Aldosterone release is stim. by this:

Low blood Na lvl.

Aldosterone release is stim. by this:

High blood K lvls.

Aldosterone release is stim. by this:

Lower BP (d/t loss of blood or dehydration) (Low BP activates RAA in the kids l/t Angiotensin II l/t increased secretion of aldosterone.).

Aldosterone release is stim. by this:

Aldosterone non-release: When BP rises the atria secretes ANP. That inhibits the rel. of aldosterone (renin) l/t the kids elim. Na l/t water following the Na, l/t BP going down.

This can be Primary or Secondary:

<Cortisol/Hydrocortisone, <Aldosterone, & 'Addison's Disease'.

re: Hyposecretion. This is an example of Primary:

ACTH from the Pit is elevated (in an attempt to stim. the Adrenal Cortex to synthesize more hormones).

This is an example of Secondary:

Deficient ACTH fails to stim. Adrenal steroid synthesis.

The following are s/s of < Cortisol/Hydrocortisone, < Aldosterone, Addison's Disease:

Sodium & water loss, < BP, hypotension, > HR (the response), the Pt craving Na.

If the Pt craves Na it could be a s/s of this:

< Cortisol/Hydrocortisone, < Aldosterone, Addison's Disease

S/s of < Cortisol/Hydrocortisone are similar to this:

S/s of <Aldosterone & Addison's Disease

This is how the body responds to <Cortisol/Aldosterone:

< BP then it > HR

This is a Mineralocorticoid that causes the kidneys to retain Na:

Aldosterone

This happens if there is no Aldosterone:

Na leaves & water leaves as well.

This stims the metabolism/breakdown of carbs:

Cortisol

Low Cortisol l/t this:

Hypoglycemia & lower blood sugar

Hypoglycemia & lower blood sugar l/t this:

Weakness, fatigue, wt. loss, confusion, psychosis, anorexia, n/v (which l/t electrolyte imbalances).
